Udaipur : Several displaced Pakistani Hindus staying in India for years had a big reason to rejoice today. 41 of them, staying in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district, were granted Indian citizenship today.
These people had been trying to acquire Indian citizenship for the last 14 years. They maintained that situation in Pakistan has been continuously bad. In several of these cases, the family members of these people had already been staying in India.
A total of 91 people from Sindhi community from Pakistan had applied for Indian citizenship. Out of them, 41 acquired Indian citizenship today. Those who took the oath today included women and children as well.
The remaining 50 will also soon acquire Indian citizenship. After the process was completed, ADM City Subash Chand Sharma administered oath of Indian citizenship to the people.
“We stay in Baluchistan, Pakistan. We are leaving Pakistan’s citizenship to acquire Indian citizenship. For that, oath is taken over here. We are taking oath. We are very happy. We are happy that are getting citizenship of India,” Jaipal, who applied for Indian citizenship, mentioned.
“Now, we people will stay here in India. The reason behind coming is that where we were destined to be, will stay there only. Lot of our relatives stay here. Now, we will stay with them.” he added.
Several displaced Pakistani Hindus from Balochistan and other parts of India’s Western neighbour had been forced to flee from that country and seek refuge in India. Many of them have been at the receiving end of years of torture, cruelty and inhuman behaviour.

Our relatives are over here since before and now, we will also be citizens of this place.
