#4SaalModiSarkar: Union Ministers Manoj Sinha and Anant Geete enlist govt’s achievements

Giving details about his ministry, Communications Minister Manoj Sinha said that Department of Telecommunications and Department of Posts have played a vital role in giving impetus and in adding more strength to Digital India and Financial Inclusion.

In the last four years, the Minister said that transparency was ushered in the telecom sector. “Government has been successful in providing digital connectivity and people centric services and initiatives,” he added.

Manoj SInha expressed hope that National Digital Communication Policy 2018 will get Cabinet’s approval by July end. The main aim of the Policy is:

– To ensure Broadband for all by 2022.

– To generate 40 lakh jobs in communication sector by 2022.

– To increase the GDP of digital communication sector to 8 percent by 2022.

– To ensure digital sovereignty of the nation.

The minister said the amount spent on telecommunications sector has increased by 6 times from 2014-2019. Telecommunication density increased to 93 percent by 2018 from 75 per cent in June 2014. Mobile internet consumers also increased from 23 crores in March 2014 to 42.5 crores in December 2017. In the last three years, FDI has increased 5 times in the telecom sector.

Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Anant Geete, while recounting the achievements of his ministry said that BHEL which was incurring losses has now turned profitable with a healthy profit margin of Rs. 1500 crores.

To give a boost to electric vehicles, Heavy Industry Ministry is beginning phase 2 wherein the availability of battery operated 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers will increase substantially.

Inclusive and overall development was the aim of govt when it came to office 4 years ago and the ministers are now taking the achievements to people about the work done so far in that direction.
