Udaipur : As protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati continues across the state, the Mewar Kshatriya Mahasabha announced Udaipur Bandh on November 1, if the film is released in Rajasthan. Hundreds of supporters from various Rajput organizations and other communities held a massive protest and dharna outside the collectorate here on Wednesdaynoon.
Commuters had a difficult time while moving from Delhigate to other directions as there was a beeline of vehicles on the main streets leading to the collectorate. The mob burnt the effigy of the filmmaker and raised slogans. ” We dont understand why all the politicians are keeping a mum and tight lipped on the issue.
The Home Minister belongs to Mewar and if some part of his consciousness is yet alive, he should take a call and take neccessary action to prevent the unrest “Manohar Singh Krishnawat, the founder of the Mahasabha said. The distortion of history wont be tolerated and if they do not rectify the factual errors before the release, we will call a bandh on November 1 as a mark of protest, all communities would support it, he added. A delegation later met the collector and gave a memorandum calling for a ban on the movie’s release in Rajasthan.
