Briefing media in New Delhi, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said it cannot be an oversight that Chidambaram forgot to disclose his assets abroad.
She said for sometime now, Income Tax authorities have been taking action against the senior Congress leader. She further added that during the investigations, it has come to notice that Chidambaram has properties abroad including the UK and the US which had not been declared by the congress leader in his 2016 affidavit.
She has asked the Congress President whether he will investigate former Finance Minister’s foreign assets.
Amit Shah hits out at Congress on blackmoney issue
BJP president Amit Shah attacked Congress over Blackmoney issue. In a tweet, the BJP president said that under the Black Money Act, four chargesheets have been filed against P Chidambaram and his family for possessing and operating several illegal assets and accounts in foreign countries. He added that IT department estimates illegal assets held by UPA’s FM to be to the tune of 3 billions dollars.
He also questioned the delay in forming SIT on black money by the UPA govt, despite Supreme Court’s orders.
Congress hits back
The Congress hit back at Bhartiya Janta Party .Says NDA government is deflecting issues and not giving answers to questions raised by the opposition leaders. The Congress attack came after Sitharaman hit out at former union minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram over his family’s foreign assets.
