Udaipur : Four persons including a 50-year old woman and two minors were killed when a pick-up truck loaded with passengers and goods overturned near Katara ka Kheda village on the Banswara-Pratapgarh road under Pipalkhoont police station area of Pratapgarh district on Wednesday morning. The victims were from a Muslim family who worked in Surat and going to their ancestral village in Jaunpur near Illahabad in UP to attend a marriage ceremony.
Shankarlal, incharge of the police station said two people died on the spot while two others died during treatment in the hospital. Among the deceased were a 60 year old man, a 15 year old boy and a 12-year old girl. The pick-up truck was going to Gangapur city from Surat and the family had taken a lift from the driver in order to save some money that would have incurred in the bus tickets.
The accident took place in the morning when the driver felt sleepy and lost control over the vehicle which overturned and fell on the roadside gorge. The passengers were badly crushed inside the vehicle who were rushed to the district hospital. Two of them including a woman were referred to Udaipur and her condition too is said to be serious. The pick-up vehicle was carrying some domestic items that was seen scattered everywhere on the road. Pratapgarh SP Anil Beniwal also inspected the accident spot along with other officers.
