The poet went live to interact with his fans on the social media where he said that the Dungarpur Nagar Parishad had requested him to participate in the Kavi Sammelan event during the Dushhera-Deepawali Mela. ” They even expressed some finanacial issues to pay the full amount for my participation, however, since I had never been to the historic city and was keen to go there, i agreed to go there for my recitations at half price” Vishwas said. His acceptance was much publicised as hoarding were put up at many places around the city announcing Kumar as the major highlight of the event that was scheduled for thursday, ” Unfortunately, the Maharani’s caravan passed through the city and when she saw my pictures, her official called up the NagarParishad chief and asked them to take my name off the invitees” Vishwas said.
The poet also added that if he would not like to go to a place where his poems and literary works are not valued. According to sources, due to the political decision, the hoarding were changed overnight and new ones were put up showcasing another poet inplace of Kumar. Dungarpur municipality’s move has drawn much flak from the poet community and many of Kumar’s supporters also announced of boycotting the event taking it as a personal humiliation. ” Poems and poets should be placed and valued beyond party considerations. Kumar is a renowned and popular kavi with a large fan following across the country. They should have thought it before they approached him to grace the event” said Rao Ajat Shatru, a renowned poet from Udaipur.
