Over 13,000 students to cast votes for youth leaders in Udaipur

MLSU-MPUAT Students’ cabinet elections today

Udaipur : The  Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) and Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology  (MPUAT) students are set to elect their representatives for the students unions in polling to take place on Monday. Approximately 10,426  voters of 4 constituent  colleges would vote to select the president, vice-president, secretary and general secretary of MLSUSU as well as college level cabinets. Also about 3056 students will be voting in MPUAT to elect its student union representatives.

The polling would be held from 8 to 1 at the respective constituent colleges of both the politically active universities while the counting would start from 2 pm. “ There are 27 booths and each of them have been equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure transparency and rule out any issues during polling. Every booth will have 12 personnel and some 400 staff are put on duty to conduct the polls” Prof MS Rathore, Dean Students Welfare (MLSU) said. The MLSU students will cast their votes in their respective colleges for the college level cabinets as well as the central union. Polling booths have been arranged at the Arts, Science, Commerce and Law colleges. The counting for the central students union would take place at Faculty of Management Studies and the results are expected to be out by 8pm. Meanwhile polling would be held at the Fisheries, Agriculture, College of Engineering and Technology and Dairy Science which are the constituent colleges under the MPUAT.

“ The college level elections were held unopposed at Home Science and Fisheries college however the students at both of these units would cast their votes for the central cabinet on Friday. The counting would be held at the Directorate of Extension education and the results may be declared around 5” Dr Subodh Sharma, official spokesperson of MPUAT informed. Students will have the NOTA option in ballot papers for both the universities. “ The NOTA option was available last year too, however, it was not imprinted in the ballot and hence most of them were unaware of it. This time we have included the option is the ballot paper itself and those who do not find any candidate suitable, can opt for NOTA” Prof Rathore said.
