The competition titled ‘Big Chef Kashmir 2018’ saw participants from all walks of life. More than 200 participants including housewives, boys, girls and students donned their chef whites and prepared some mouth-watering savouries.
Myra Shakeel, a participant said, “As a cook, as a chef I should say rather, we have got a chance to showcase our talent in front of people, in front of the audience.”
Another participant, Abid Ahmad shred his feelings, “Students from Jammu and Kashmir who are interested in cooking or are interested in this line of work and want to be professional chefs in hotels, they will get to know where they stand when they take part in competitions like this. Like today was basket cooking round where we had to prepare a dish on our own and present it in front of renowned chefs. It is a good opportunity for beginners who want to see themselves as chefs or want to work in a 5-star hotel.”
Kashmir, a popular tourist destination, is regularly thronged by food connoisseurs for traditional multi-cuisine called Wazwan. The Kashmiri cuisine, in full course, known as Wazwan consists of 36 varieties of food, of which 15 to 30 are meat preparations.
