Royals slam CBFC’s move on Padmavati

Udaipur : Maharaj Kumar VishvaRaj Singh Mewar, member of the erstwhile Mewar royal family has slammed the CBFC’s move on certification of the disputed movie ‘Padmavati’. Strongly objecting the decision, Singh said that cosmetic changes like proposing a change of name in the title will not change the fact that the movie refers to real places, his ancestors and other persons in history with their names continuing to remain the same. It may be noted that Arvind Singh, younger brother of Maharana Mahendra Singh Mewar had been the part of the panel which had given recommendations to the CBFC for the certification process. Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, son of  Maharana Mahendra Singh Mewar had too been invited, however, Singh had sought some clarification before accepting or declining the invitation. On Saturday, Maharaj Kumar Vishvaraj Singh Mewar again sent a letter to the CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi, hitting hard on the certification decision. ” Contrary to all civilised conduct the CBFC by suggesting such changes has reduced itself to endorsing the propagation of fiction about heroic personalities and living families. The chairman’s stating one thing and doing another renders the board to be just as ignoble as those distorting and

seeking to profit from the history of this country” Singh claimed. “I cannot help but observe that all the extra effort is going into presenting a product that has been discredited and one that from the very beginning only exemplifies an unprofessional and unethical style of functioning.”
