This model school is really making a difference!

‘First one in the state  to have a 5D technique map of physical features of the Indian sub continent’

Udaipur : Heard of students from government schools looking to shift to private schools but turns out to be a different story with Government Senior Secondary, Karawali situated on the state highway 53, some fifteen kilometers away from Salumbar tehsil headquarters of Udaipur district. The school premises is equipped with CCTVs while the smart class room has LED projectors and computers. With state-of-art facilities and infrastructure, the school has become a centre of attraction in the area and is attracting more parents for admissions. Two years ago while the number of enrolled students was a meager 90, this year 276 students are reading here. The results too have been encouraging with 98 percent pass in 12 board examinations and 78 percent in the secondary level exam.

The institution has set an example by carrying out all such developmental activities on the campus mobilizing their own funds that have been collected through donors. The teaching staff itself has set an example by donating funds from their salary for the school’s upliftment. “ Clean classrooms and modern infrastructure helps boost students’ confidence. Parents also feel proud of the school. This is just the first of a series of steps to be taken to bring about this change,” principal Dr. Vijay Choudhary said. Making of an E-library is underway while the entire campus would be made wi-fi enabled soon. The school will soon become the first one in the state to have a 5D technique map of physical features of the Indian sub continent . “ We are getting constructed a physical map of the Indian sub continent based on the 5D technique. It is being built in the school ground covering an area of 350 sq ft.  It would cost around 1.5 lakh. The  children would have  a better and clear understanding of the rivers, plateaus, mountains, states, oceans and various civilizations through this technique” Chowdharys told Udaipur Kiran.

A water tank is being built for continous supply of water to depict the various Indian rivers like Ganga, Brahmaputra, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna etc along with the oceans and seas.Villagers are much enthusiastic with the kind of infrastructure and facilities being created by the school staff and therefore there is no dearth of donors when a need of fund arise for innovative ideas. The school has a small kitchen garden where veggies are raised through organic farming.  The kids get to eat the fresh vegetables grown in their own garden for their midday meal. Besides, an orchard is also being developed with fruit varieties like guava, papita, pomegranate, cheeku etc being grown. Large number of trees are planted here carrying a description of their name and medicinal uses. “ The children learn better by visuals rather than mugging up things from books. They are encouraged to learn from their surroundings and come up with their own ideas to make the learning experience even better and interesting” Chowdhary said.
